Wedding Planning Guide
i need to plan a formal wedding in 5 months!?
My wedding will be in November, either the 14th or the 27th.
That means I have to plan it in 5 months, instead of a year!
Does anyone have a monthly checklist or guide for planning a wedding in this amount of time? Or ideas?
I cannot afford to hire a wedding planner, so I am doing this on my own.
I planned my daughter’s wedding in 2 months, so it can be done in five!
First of all, tie down the date and find a place to have it and reserve it. Reserve the place you want your reception as well – get those dates on the books!
Next, find a caterer, videographer, photographer, florist, DJ (if applicable) and go ahead and start looking for those and when you find one you like, book them.
If you had planned on sending out “Save the Date” cards, now is the time to do that, so that means you need to get your wedding guest list together.
Pick your bridesmaids and ask them if they want to be in your wedding while your fiance finds groomsmen. Then, you & he need to go look at tuxes & bridesmaids dresses so that you can give ordering info to your bridal party.
Start looking at wedding gowns. You may need to order one and you need time to get it ordered and altered.
When you start booking caterers, they will let you know when to come in for tastings, and you can go from there. You will need to find some local bakeries and set up some cake testings and decide who you want to bake your wedding cake.
Two to three months before the wedding, the groom’s parents need to find a place for the Rehearsal Dinner and get that booked.
Six weeks before the wedding, you need to address and start mailing out the invitations.
A month before the wedding, most of everything should be done and you are just tying up loose ends. You need to go ahead and have your music picked out for the Wedding Ceremony and if you have a DJ, you need to meet with him and go over how you want the reception to go, i.e., when you will be introduced along with the wedding party and parents; who will do the toasts and when, etc.
